When driving, it is important to be aware of road etiquette to ensure your safety and the safety of others. Even if you have the best car insurance in the Philippines, practicing good road etiquette can help prevent accidents and make everyone's journey smoother.

Here are some reminders on road etiquette:

Do not tailgate other vehicles.

Allow space between you and the vehicle ahead of you. If the other vehicle suddenly stops, slows down, or turns, you may not always be able to step on the brakes and end up hitting it.

Use your turn signals.

Alert other drivers and pedestrians when intending to turn right or left with your turn signal. Doing so shows consideration for others and helps avoid accidents.

Do not straddle two lanes.

Drive in your corresponding lane instead of cutting across or straddling two lanes, causing the traffic to slow down. Stay in your lane or change lanes early if you must.

Put your headlamps on full beam only when necessary.

Don’t use your headlamps on full beam when driving on populated roads that provide enough visibility, especially when the glare might temporarily affect the sight of other drivers and pedestrians.

Honk your horns sparingly.

It’s okay to make a light, quick beep to other drivers as a way to alert them when the light has turned green or when they are reversing towards you too closely. However, don’t use your car horns to make others get out of your way.

Give way when lanes merge.

When two lanes merge, vehicles from each lane should give way alternately. This means you should let the next car from the other lane go ahead instead of tailgating the vehicle in front of you in your lane.

Allow space in intersections and side roads.

Keep intersections open and make space for other vehicles to enter or exit side roads. This helps ease traffic and show consideration for others who also need to get to their destinations.

Road etiquette is about more than just following the law. It's about being considerate of others on the road and ensuring everyone gets to their destination safely. So observe the above reminders, have good Philippine car insurance, and drive safely.
