Cars

Several factors can contribute to car accidents. Below are some of the most common ones. Avoid driving in any of these conditions. Even if you have the best car insurance in the Philippines with comprehensive coverage, it’s best to avoid accidents altogether.

Distracted driving

Being distracted while driving is one of the most common causes of car accidents. It can be anything from texting while driving to fiddling with the radio to simply not paying attention to the road ahead.

Pull over if you need to send a message, pick up something that fell on the floor, or do anything other than driving. Otherwise, it should have to wait, and your priority should be getting to your destination safely.

Speeding

Speeding or reckless driving is another major cause of car accidents. When drivers are going too fast, they may not have enough time to react to hazards on the road, or they may lose control of their vehicle entirely.

Practice patience on the road so you won’t have the urge to beat the red light, hurriedly weave through tight spots, and accidentally run into objects or people. Leave early for important appointments instead of speeding to get there on time.

Impaired driving

Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is never a good idea. Not only is it illegal, but it can also lead to disastrous consequences.

When you’ve had too much to drink, take a cab or have someone drive you home. Even if you feel you can drive slowly, it is best not to risk yourself or anyone else on the road.

Weather conditions

Inclement weather can make driving conditions more difficult and dangerous. Bad weather can undoubtedly contribute to car accidents, from slick roads to low visibility during a rainstorm.

Slow down when driving during bad weather and allow space between you and other cars. Turn on your headlights to make sure you are visible.

Defective auto parts

Defective auto parts may sometimes cause car accidents. They could be anything from faulty brakes to a blown tire.

Ensure you maintain your car and check it regularly, repairing any damages as soon as you find them. Even if you are just traveling a short distance, don’t get on the road with a potentially problematic vehicle.
